Anonymous: I'm not sure what to do. My boyfriend & I have been dating for three months & things have gotten pretty rocky. He continues to smoke and it bothers me because I recently lost someone I was very close to from smoking. I don't want to lose him but I continue to tell him the same thing over & over & I just feel like I'm being annoying. I just want things to work I just feel like he needs to grow up a lil and not smoke. what should I do?

It would be really hard to make him quit. You cant ask a smoker to quit and expect him to quit right away. Simply telling him the possible outcome of his smoking wouldnt even make him to immediately quit. What you can do is to divert his attentions. First of all try seeing the reasons why he smokes or the instances when he does it. Does he smoke when stressed or when he is bored? because what you can do is keep him so occupied. First of all stop telling him dont smoke all the time. second, try inviting him to do sports or do a certain hobby. Distraction is one way to do it. My cousin was able to quit smoking by distracting herself. She bout a guitar and imporved her guitar skills maybe u can do the same(not specifically on guitars though). Im not an epxert on this but i know u can read online or purchase books that gives you tips on how to quit soking and making apply those tips to your bou.
